Dear Fellow Pastors,
Greetings in the Name of Christ.  First, let us introduce ourselves.  We call ourselves “The Bubble Home Project”.  We are a group initially gathered together by Congressman Henry Cuellar’s office, to work on a project to bring emergency housing units to our area. The goal is to help some of our many disadvantaged families by giving them a leg up by providing decent and adequate housing.

We are writing this letter to you for four reasons: To ask for your help in three areas, and fourth to give you a bit of background about the project.

First we need help raising money.  We hope to raise enough money to place 12 families for the first stage of this project, so we are having a Benefit Concert featuring several wonderful Christian Artists will he held on Nov. 5th at Iglesia Cristiana Misericordia at 7 pm. We ask that you promote this event in your congregations, we are enclosing a DVD to play in your service. We hope to raise enough money to place 12 families for the first stage of this project before Christmas, which will be an expense of approximately $100,000, so we need your help getting involved.

Second, we will need mature, faith-filled, partner churches who are willing to develop a relationship with the families that qualify for the units. This will be a two year commitment and are willing to come along side this venture that the Lord has open for His Body to witness His love to others.

Third we will need experienced life and trade skills teachers and pastors, in some of the areas mentioned below.  We will need teachers who can teach the same materials several times over the next two years once a month as the chosen families will commit to attend trainings.

Forth, the project itself consists of the acquisition of mobile homes that have been distributed to state agencies throughout the country and that are pulled out of the disaster areas. In our case the agency is the Texas Facilities Commission (TFC). The homes are acquired by qualifying agencies that meet the licensing requirements of the TFC. As with many public-private cooperative ventures, there are many rules and regulations that must be followed. Our committee has been working through these issues.

Since that first meeting we have been strategizing about how to best accomplish this effort. The first stage was to find a ministry partner whose ministry aims best suited the project and could legally work with the Texas Facilities Commission and we have found that partner in a local non-profit organization that works faithfully with missions and with the homeless in our area.

Please join us in this effort that will transform the lives of some of our poorest families. Promote the fundraising, think about families in your church who have the maturity and resources to be good mentor families, and think about yourself and others in your congregations who would be good life skills teachers. We encourage you to get involved.   For more information please contact Pastor Lucy De Leon at 956-712-0655.
